{"id":1250,"date":"2021-01-25T13:27:09","date_gmt":"2021-01-25T11:27:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.americanstudies.ro\/?p=1250"},"modified":"2021-01-25T13:27:09","modified_gmt":"2021-01-25T11:27:09","slug":"guest-talk-by-saviana-stanescu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.americanstudies.ro\/ro\/guest-talk-by-saviana-stanescu\/","title":{"rendered":"Guest Talk by Saviana St\u0103nescu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On January 5, 2021, the American Studies program was honored to welcome award-winning playwright Saviana St\u0103nescu as a special guest in the Contemporary American Drama and Social Change class taught by Dr. Diana Benea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. St\u0103nescu offered a talk on the process of developing one of her latest pieces, <em>Kilometrul Zero (The Revolution Project)<\/em>, during her sabbatical semester in Romania in the fall of 2019. Recent productions include: <em>Bee Trapped Inside the Window<\/em> (Civic Ensemble), <em>What Happens Next<\/em> (Cherry Artspace), <em>Aliens with Extraordinary Skills<\/em> (Women\u2019s Project; Teatro La Capilla, Mexico City), <em>Ants<\/em> (New Jersey Rep), <em>For A Barbarian Woman<\/em> (Fordham\/EST), <em>Polanski Polanski<\/em> (HERE, PS 122, Chain Theatre), <em>White Embers<\/em> (Dramalabbet, Stockholm), <em>Viz\u0103 de clovn<\/em> (Teatrul Odeon), <em>Organic <\/em>(TNB), <em>Toys<\/em> (Hollywood; Avignon; 59E59 NYC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>St\u0103nescu holds a PhD in Theater from the National University of Theater and Film in Bucharest, Romania, as well as an MA in Performance Studies (Fulbright fellow) and an MFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, where she also taught for eight years. Currently, she is a tenured Associate Professor of Playwriting and Theater\/Performance Studies at Ithaca College, NY.
